Put on your overalls and grab your wellies; Danny’s Farm is having a Barnyard Benefit this Saturday. Located high in Altadena, Danny’s Farm was inspired by a young man named Danny Gott, who has an incredible fondness for animals as well as autism. His parents, former Dodger pitcher Jim Gott and his wife, Cathy, created this unique two-acre spread to provide work and volunteer opportunities for adults and teenagers with disabilities; they also offer programs designed to help kids with special needs foster relationships, explore the world around them, and gain confidence in social situations. It’s a great spot to visit — and you can rent the place and its bucolic barn full of friendly animals for a birthday party. Danny’s Farm even partners special-needs kids with Cal Poly Pomona veterinary interns (and by the way, the animals on the farm have all been rescued or have “special needs” themselves).
The Barnyard Benefit includes entertainment from Sharon and Billy Blanks, Jr., and Joey Travolta. One of the auction items is a day at the Nickelodeon set with Altadena actress Keke Palmer of Akeela and the Bee, and of course there’s an exclusive Dodger tour available to high bidders who want to help the cause.
