Making Strides at Lacy Park

Lacy Park—what better place for a 5K walk?

On Sunday, the American Cancer Society will be hosting the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk at Lacy Park in San Marino. The nationally acclaimed walk is returning for its second year and is open to all ages. It’s also free, although the point is to raise money, so the hope is that you’ll get a couple of sponsors, or even just sponsor yourself. Walking teams will finish a 5K course and also take part in pre and post-event activities.

This walk has been the Cancer Society’s main event to raise awareness and money to fight breast cancer since 1993. In those 18 years, almost 6 million walkers have raised over $400 million to fund research and access to mammograms for thousands of women.

Come out and support this national event on a local scale. Anyone can register a team or an individual walker—or make a donation—online.

Hello – Just to let you know that I volunteered a few months ago to work int the registration area for the cancer walk on May 5, 2013 at Lacy Park. I received a confirmation email saying I would be contacted with details as the date drew nearer. Sadly, I never heard another word from anyone. I would not volunteer to work for this again. Someone blew it!
