Domestic Violence Collection Drive

Sep 30, 2015

12543For the month of October, the 12th Annual Domestic Violence Collection Drive, an annual project of Congresswoman Judy Chu and Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center, is sharing knowledge, encouraging participation, and garnering resources—all with the “goal of empowering survivors of domestic violence and bringing hope to those in need.”

Congresswoman Chu is joined by Congresswoman Grace Napolitano CA-32 and is working with local women’s groups such as the Soroptimists and the Women’s Club. A donation drive will be in full swing the entire month of October with various drop-off locations throughout San Gabriel Valley.

Gently-used clothing, toiletries, household cleaning products, and school supplies are requested items “to help provide resources for the women and children currently in the local domestic violence shelters.” (No breakable items, please.)

Recipients of donations from this year’s campaign include Elizabeth House, Pacific Lifeline, Grace Services, Project Sister Family Services, and Shepherd’s Door.

Additionally, people are invited to participate in a community volunteer day to help sort and box donations to be sent to the various shelters and to spread the word of this campaign to family, friends, church members, groups, and within their community.

A day-long collection event will be held at Westfield West Covina on Saturday, October 13th, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Best Buy Store. Address: 1800 Plaza Dr., West Covina 91790.
