The idea is “eat out locally, help out locally.”

On the evenings of February 28th, 29th and March 1st, dozens of popular local restaurants are donating dinners to the Hathaway-Sycamores’ annual “Dinners from the Heart” event.

How it works: choose your favorite restaurant (it’s got to be on their extensive list), make your reservation through H-S, then eat, drink and be merry.

Another option is to join one of the group dinners. Ten to twenty guests will dine together and receive the pleasure of having a special table-mate. On Thursday, the 1st of March at The Derby Restaurant that guest will be horse racing’s most winningest jockey Laffit Pincay. Other notables will be contemporary American artist Peter Adams, Dave Vergari of Vergari wines, Rachael Worby, Artistic Director and Conductor of MUSE/IQUE and chef Claud Beltran of Noir Food & Wine.

A small sampling of the restaurants taking part are The Raymond, Elements, Cheval Blanc Bistro, and Maison Akira. A complete list of the participants can be downloaded at the Hathaway-Sycamore website.

The cost of your dinner (ranging from $75-$175) will be donated to Hathaway-Sycamore Child and Family Services which works with over 7,500 local children. Their services include a residential treatment center for kids ages six through eighteen; foster care and adoption services; mental health care; in-home counseling; a transitional living program for teens; a family resource center; and a grief and loss center.
