As development has encroached upon the foothills, this conservancy was born to help preserve open land and historic structures, as well as fight for access to long-established hiking trails. It has helped a neighborhood create a “pocket oak” area and is now working to create a pocket park at Woodbury and Marengo, as well as to restore the Altadena Crest Trail. And now it has achieved something even greater: buying and preserving Rubio Canyon. The good folks who make this happen could use help with everything from web design to outdoor education.
