A “Done in a Day” Project

Mar 8, 2016

IMG_5483On February 20, Pasadena Rotary Club volunteers hit the ground running on as part of its “Done in a Day Project.”

Eleven Rotarians visited Villa Esperanza‘s new Dimension Day Program for adults with developmental disabilities and assembled patio furniture, weeded, watered, and planted flowers, plants, and young trees into pots and planter boxes “to make the entrance more aesthetically pleasing for client families.”

“We are honored to have brought our ‘Done in A Day Project’ to a wonderful organization as Villa Esperanza,” said Rotary President Kathy Meagher. “It was a wonderful way to serve a valued organization in our community and have fun while doing it.”

Pasadena Rotarians who participated include:  Co-Chairs Mark Waterson and Julia Scheibmeir along with Joyce Shearin, Dennis Juett, Leah Snell, Ken Stickney, Raul Mercado, Stephen Smith, Kathy Meagher, Jim Meagher, Fred Grannis and because the group worked hard and finished early, Geoff Johansing missed helping by about 15 minutes!  Rotarians also brought their wonderful family and friends who helped:  Ashley Waterson, Evan Waterson (Mark’s son), Brandon (Steve Smith’s son), Adriana Lim (Steve’s wife), and Karla Barron (Ken’s girlfriend).

Evan, Mark Waterson’s son—who will be 2 in April—was a great help. According to Mark: “It was a fun experience to have Evan begin his volunteer and philanthropy education, and hopefully some of the important life lessons he learned will stick with him as he grows up.”
