Raise your hand if you don’t like a real homemade milkshake—nobody’s hand should be up!

I like to add fresh fruit because it’s healthy, available, and can “bulk up” the drink in a nutritious snap. Wah-lah!

Michelle’ Favorite Summertime Shake

Ingredients:

Two ripe bananas
1-2 small scoops vanilla ice cream
1 cup milk
I cup ice
Dash vanilla
1-2 teaspoons sugar

1-3 chopped peaches, nectarines, or a handful of strawberries

Directions: Throw it all in a blender and hit purée, baby! Serve immediately. Don’t wait! Makes 4-6 small servings or a couple’a whoppers.

Unsolicited tips: Not only does using the ice and milk cut the calories (as opposed to simply adding more ice cream,) it also serves to create more of an “iced milk” type shake which my family prefers. It’s still creamy and dreamy, but not so thick and heavy. Also let’s the fruit flavors come alive.

The shake in the photo was made with fresh white peaches and it was soooooo goooood. Happy summer!
