This is actually two readings in one (post). The first is this Friday, when Wendy Mogel, author of the beloved parenting manual The Blessing of a Skinned Knee, discusses and signs her latest, The Blessing of a B Minus: Using Jewish Teachings to Raise Resilient Teenagers. You don’t have to be of the chosen people to Mogel’s warmth, wit, and firm grasp of psychological research.

Finding Forster

The second Wendy is Wendy Moffat, a professor at Dickinson College whose new book, A Great Unrecorded History: A New Life of E.M. Forster, focuses intensely on its subject’s sexuality. Forster was a homosexual, and deeply resentful of the necessity he felt to hide that fact from the world—small wonder that hypocrisy is a central theme of his. His openly homosexual work, including his novel Maurice, was published posthumously. An interesting man, to say the least, and what sounds like a very interesting book.
