The Levitt Pavilion’s free summer concert series continues. We’re particularly excited about this Saturday’s performers, Alejo Aponte y Latonera, who have a really excellent MySpace page.* They’ve got a new album out, Gente (that’s “people” for you gringos). It’s the culmination of a long musical journey: Aponte spent nearly a decade traveling through his native Colombia, Cuba, the Caribbean and Brazil, learning the soundscapes of every which where. You could call Gente Latin World Music with Afro Beat influences and you wouldn’t be wrong, exactly, but you might be low-balling Aponte and his band some. Shame! Atone by coming out to the Pavilion this Saturday—it’s free, after all.

*Seriously. Most of these things make my eyes bleed but Aponte’s is nice.
