It may be late July, soon to be early August, and the temperatures are rising and we’re all a bit grumpy, but get ready to smile. Because who can’t smile when confronted with five thousand—yes, 5,000—jack o’lanterns?
We primarily love Halloween because of the carved pumpkin-lit with a candle-glowing in the dark-element (though, yes, the adorable kids, scary costumes, and candy are draws as well).
Now, you will have to wait until Friday, October 3rd, to actually see these 5,000 jack o’lanterns but tickets go on sale August 1st, and from what we’ve heard, it’s a good idea to snag tickets while they’re available.
The Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns runs for one month, October 3rd through November 2nd at a new location—Descanso Gardens.
“More than 5,000 hand-carved jack o’lanterns created by professional artists and sculptors are arranged in artful displays throughout a 1/3-mile scenic trail within the Rose Garden.”
“Master jack o’lantern carver” Ray Villafane will be leading his team to the West Coast:
Ray’s work has been featured all over the globe – from the Food Network to the President’s quarters in the White House to Bermuda’s Sousa’s Gardens. Ray has achieved a cult-like following and fans have fondly nicknamed themselves “Villa-fans”. (TheRise.org)
