The PMCA has a lot going for it: good location, a great space and fresh programming. The Ulysses Guide to the Los Angeles River, in the back gallery until July 3rd, is really something. And while the excellent Millard Sheets exhibit is gone, taking its place this Sunday is the 99th Annual California Art Club Gold Medal Juried Exhibition, featuring the best that CAC’s artist-members have to offer. Not only can you see the work, but you can touch some of it too—if you buy it and take it home, that is. Proceeds benefit the PMCA, the CAC and the artists. It doesn’t say so anywhere, but I’ll wager there will be wine and cheese on hand for the opening. Otherwise it wouldn’t really be an opening.
The CAC is a little more than 100 years old, the brainchild of early California Impressionists Franz Bischoff, Carl Oscar Borg, Hanson Puthuff and William Wendt.
