Party with the Pinot

Jan 24, 2010

Julia Manuela and Peter Cargasacchi of Cargasacchi Winery are among the presenters at the Grand Tasting.

If you like Pinot Noir the way we like Pinot Noir, then you’re going to want to take part in one of the events happening shortly as part of the second annual Pasadena Pinot Fest. Unfortunately, you can’t take part in the first, a winemaker’s dinner tonight (Sunday), because it’s sold out. But the Friday-night tasting at Noir with winemaker Wes Hagen of Clos Pepe ($20) still has availability, as does the Grand Tasting at the University Club on Saturday afternoon ($75). The former includes tastings of Clos Pepe’s Chardonnay and Pinot; the latter includes samples of Pinots from many respected producers, as well as hors d’oeuvres and barbecue by Noir chef Claude Beltran, cheese tastings, wine seminars and a Riedel glass to keep.

A portion of the proceeds were originally slated to go to Hillsides, but that seems to have vanished from the web site. Some local charity is supposed to be benefiting, but we’re not sure which. Still, this is really more about the wine, the food and the community of wine lovers than the charity.
