The South Pasadena Public Library is offering a feast of talented this Wednesday evening (September 25th).
The panel will include Christina Schwarz who’s novel Drowning Ruth is included in Oprah’s Book Club collection. “Drowning Ruth started out with my thinking of a Boo Radleyish neighbor I had when I was growing up,” states Schwarz at Oprah.com. A New York Times review says that “the vivid realism of the novel’s setting adds depth to an already gripping plot.”
Victoria Patterson‘s This Vacant Paradise was a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice: “Patterson beautifully parses the consequences of one woman’s fall in this memorable, penetrating, fully achieved novel.” Her collection of interlinked short stories, Drift, was a finalist for the California Book Award and the 2009 Story Prize.
Bestselling business author Julie Winkle Giulioni has received accolades from entrepreneurs, professionals and fellow authors. Help Them Grow or Watch Them Go “is the best, most comprehensive resource available. It’s perfectly relevant for new supervisors, senior executives and leaders at any level” (Sharon Silverman, Vice President for Human Resources, Macy’s).
Margaret Finnegan is author of The Goddess Lounge reviewed for Hometown Pasadena by another local author Petrea Burchard who called it “profane, outrageous, and divine.” A reader on Goodreads says it’s “a romp and a half, witty, filled with energy, entertaining and damn funny!” Finnegan also has a blog—Finnegan Begin Again—with a goddess of the week, and she has contributed to Hometown Pasadena’s “Write Here” category with “The Reel Classroom.”
The panelists will speak followed by a question and answer period.
Additionally, a silent auction will be set up for perusal and bids, and the library will be raffling off some book baskets—a tease most bibliophiles won’t be able to resist.
