She also uses writing to awaken one’s spirituality, holds a tele-class called “Courageous Heart: From Fear to Fulfillment,” and organizes 7-day writing workshops and retreats (the last being March 2016 in Venice, Italy). She’s been an activist for marriage equality as well as LGBT rights, and for over a decade, she worked with inmates in California, helping them recover from addiction and trauma.

We first heard for Dr. Kotulski when we interviewed Diana and Michael Leone, owners of The Salt Studio in Pasadena (read full article here). Salt Studio offers halotherapy, massage, and acupuncture. In early 2014, the Leone’s were hosting a benefit for Project Sister that provides crisis intervention for survivors of sexual assault. Dr. Kotulski led a guided meditative therapeutic writing exercise.

On May 27, Kotulski will lead another exercise—open to everyone.

Dr. Kotulski’s meditation is a guided meditation that includes stress reduction techniques, mindfulness, deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and self-hypnosis. Meditation reduces stress, insomnia, increases peacefulness, reduces high blood pressure, reduces emotional reactivity. The writing portion is about “releasing” and is designed to help people release negativity and negative beliefs related to their trauma and embrace positive, self-loving ones. Within this hour event, people also experience halotherapy.

Halotherapy as explained by Salt Studio…

Halotherapy (also known as salt therapy) is an all-natural, drug-free therapy that benefits the lungs and skin with the use of dry sodium chloride (salt) aerosol. The 1 to 5 micron sized salt particles are precisely dispersed by a state-of-the-art halo-generator into a specially constructed negative ionized salt room where you relax in comfortable chairs and simply breathe in the salt air.

There are no side effects to this treatment and it is safe for children and adults to use. Halotherapy involves no artificial elements, simply pure salt that acts as a natural disinfectant for clearer lungs and skin.

Halotherapy is beneficial to those that suffer from respiratory illness such as asthma, allergies, bronchitis, and cystic fibrosis, as well as skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema, and acne due to the natural anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties of salt. It is also recommended for healthy people as it boosts the immune system to help combat the high amounts of pollutants, dust, and bacteria we all breathe every day.
