Knowledge is a familiarity with something. KNOWLEDGES is a big art show at Mount Wilson Observatory happening this weekend, bringing together 30 contemporary LA artists whose work trades in ideas that the Observatory manifests on a regular basis: astronomy, discovery, space exploration, optics, cosmology, and the site itself and its influence on the cultural landscape of Los Angeles. So basically it sounds amazing. Here’s the program. Also, it’s free. It’s a project of the Pasadena Art Council’s EMERGE Fiscal Sponsorship Program, which supports a great many worthy endeavors. Also, did we mention yet it’s free? It’s run by artists, which is probably why. Even though it’s free, you might want to consider making a contribution to this stellar (pardon) event. The event runs Saturday and Sunday until 7:30 and 5, respectively. There’s an evening program Saturday night, but due to overwhelming demand it’s full up. It should still be pretty great during the day, though, too.
