“Holiday Light Up” in Upper Hastings
Saturday, Dec. 7th
Sixty to seventy percent of the 1300 homeowners who live in Upper Hastings participate in the yearly “Holiday Light Up.” Each street chooses a theme and competition is fierce. Initial plug in is Saturday. Lights remain on (officially) from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, December 11th outside judges such as firemen, policemen, someone from the clergy, and a member of the military judge the exhibits and trophies are awarded in many categories.
Upper Hastings Ranch is borders are North Michillinda Avenue to the east, The Eaton Canyon Golf Course and Riviera Drive to the west, Sierra Madre Boulevard to the south and the foothills to the north.
2nd Annual Holiday Literary Festival and Tree Lighting
Saturday, Dec. 7th, 4-6 p.m.
Allendale Branch Library, 1130 S. Marengo Ave., Pasadena 91106
Dedicated to the beloved and recently lost Wanda Coleman, nine poets and authors—Ellen Snortland, David Kipen, Dorian Cohen, Fernando Castro, Armine Iknadossian, Darlene Lacey, Carlye Archibeque, Michael C. Ford, and Shahe Mankerian—will read their holiday poems – from nostalgic to irreverent (if this is in any way resembles last year’s event). A holiday-themed art display and set are being provided by Steve Esdcandon and the Blair IB Singers will perform.
