Hearts, jazz bossa nova acoustic guitar, munchies, and “a lively bunch of amistades” (friends). So says artist Vibiana Aparicio-Chamberlin in regard to her art exhibit that has its opening reception Wednesday, February 12th at Zona Rosa Coffee in Pasadena.
Valentine art, candy kisses, and Mexican coffee. Valentine-making for kids of all ages. “Buy art for your sweetie” to benefit the Isabel Aparicio Art Scholarship for a Pasadena graduating high school student.
The winning student will be someone who is excellent in art, proud of his or her Latino heritage, financially in need, and an active community volunteer. One hundred percent of sales will be donated to the scholarship fund.
Vibiana is a painter, printmaker, mural artist, and an altarista. In addition, she uses art and storytelling to teach at-risk youngsters how to read and write. Vibiana has won art commissions from MALDF and printmaking awards from Women Painters West, the Cal Poly Kellogg Foundation, the Pasadena Society of Artists, and the Los Angeles Printmaking Society.
