That sentiment is behind the philosophy posited by Green Brooms Music Academy founders Gyllian and Manuel Lozano.
“Not everyone has the same motivation for learning or takes the same musical path,” says Gyllian, who has spent much of her life proving that music is for every man, woman, and child who desires to open themselves to it.
Green Brooms first opened in Santa Monica in 2008. Now the Lozano’s have selected South Pasadena for their second location after “falling in love with the community’s affinity for the arts and its high regard for education.”
Part of their philosophy includes partnering with nonprofits. To that extent, this Sunday, September 15th, Green Brooms is offering “$10 Lesson Day.”
An introductory private lesson (regularly $38) can be reserved for only ten dollars. All proceeds and matching contributions will be donated to Kidspace.
“Music is an important part of the Kidspace experience,” says CEO Michael Shanklin. “It feels serendipitous to be working with a company whose goal is to bring music into people’s lives.”
Green Brooms offers instruction in voice, acoustic and electric guitar, piano, violin and viola, drum and percussion, mandolin, banjo, and ukelele. They also offer classes on music theory, composition, and notation, and instruction on jazz, classical, and flamenco guitar.
This is an affordable opportunity for the wee one who can be found banging pots in the kitchen all the way to the more “mature” population among us who want to fulfill their dream of playing an instrument or reconnect with the guitar they’ve been neglecting since college camp-outs, visit the Green Brooms website or give a call and reserve your spot today.
