If trains on train tracks, whistles, quaint houses and stores, little people and dogs, and with everything dressed up for the holidays grabs your fancy and turns you into a little boy or girl, head over to Fancy That! on Mission in San Marino. Ask Jim to flip the switch, setting off two sets of trains on his two-tiered track, and slowly walk around his elaborate set-up. Take your time; there’s a lot to see.
If you’re an New England transplant, you’ll get a kick out of the White Castle building, lit up and serving burgers, with a girl in a poodle skirt and her young man walking with a box full of White Castle burgers. It reminds us of the White Castle we always saw—from the bucket seat in our family station wagon—along I287 as we drove from Connecticut to Manhattan.
