Stonefire Grill, a small restaurant chain started by a couple of self-described soccer moms from Valencia, opens in East Pasadena this weekend, and the kickoff is a an unusual fundraiser that promises to be a big hit. For those who make reservations in advance, dinner on Saturday night will be completely free — diners will just be asked to tip the staff well, because all tips are going straight to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Not only that, but Stonefire Grill is matching all donations. We have family members with CF and know personally how devastating this childhood disease is. The cause is a superb one.
The new restaurant, which has five sister locations, is a family-friendly place known for American food (grilled tri-tip, ribs, pizza, salads, carrot cake), low prices, parent-friendly wine and beer, and a takeout area designed for after-practice parents with hungry kids in the car.
We’ll report more on the dining experience after the place gets running, but if you can get there on Saturday for the meal and the fund-raiser, please do.
Reservations are limited to parties of four; to book, you must call 818.991.4054, extension 0. The restaurant is in Hastings Ranch at 437 N. Rosemead Blvd.
