Inside the Gold Bug

While you’re cruising Pasadena’s museums on Friday evening as part of ArtNight, make sure to stop by Gold Bug in Old Town for the opening of its most unusual new show, Death by Cat. The wonderfully quirky and exotic gift shop will be displaying the photographs of New York State photographer Bruce Wolf, which chronicle the dead animals left on his doorstep by his 33 stray cats. Wolf will be at the opening to talk about his photographs, his work and his cats.

And that’s not all you’ll encounter at this opening. Also present will be California assemblage artist Jack Howe, showing his meticulously crafted “Shrines and Treasures” pieces. And the icing on the cake is an insect petting zoo from the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles.
