Charcuterie, Anyone?

Aug 1, 2017

A “proper” charcuterie and cheese plate. Who knew?

Patina 2nd Level Sommelier Alexandre Oliver leads an “intimate cooking class experience” teaching how to prepare a proper charcuterie and cheese plate on August 9. Additionally, appropriate wine pairings will be revealed.

Will Oliver suggest aged or firm cheeses? Soft, crumbly, and creamy? Some folks put their foot down about including a blue because some people have strong negative feelings, which we find hard to understand as a blue cheese with a ripe pear is one of our all-time favorite combinations.

Charcuterie can be pâté, prosciutto, soppressata, chorizo, and even pork rillettes, though we have no idea what Mr. Oliver will determine “proper.” And what about bread, crackers, and accompaniments? So many options. If you sign up, let us know what you learn!

This is the last of Descanso Gardens’ “Summer Cooking Class Series.” This particular class is scheduled for August 9th, 6-8 p.m., and costs $60 per person.
