Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Boops

Feb 27, 2017

Here’s a hook:

In Collective Rage, five different Bettys collide at the intersection of anger, sex, and “thea-tah.”

Broadway World calls Jen Silverman’s play—now in production at The Theatre @ Boston Court, through March 19—as “a perfect balance between the really absurd and the absurdly real.”

Well now, doesn’t that fit our times?

The Washington Post called the play “genitals-obsessed” and “terminally unfunny,” yet John Stoltenberg, writing for DC Metro Arts, refers to “Silverman’s quicksilver wit.”

From what we’ve read, if The Vagina Monologues make you squirm then these 5 Bettys are going to make you scream and run from the room. But if you like your sauce sassy and with more than a touch of crude, then you may be able to see these 5 Boops as “caricature(s) in quest of an authentic life.”
