Beethoven Sings

The PPM chorus.

More often than not, performances of Beethoven predominately feature his instrumental work — which makes Pasadena Pro Musica’s upcoming concert of Beethoven choral pieces a rare opportunity to hear, live, an oft-neglected part of his corpus. The program, entitled Immortal Beloved, consists of the Missa in C, the Concert Aria: “Ah, perfido!” featuring solo soprano Carla Jamie Perez, and the Choral Fantasy, with Chip Colvin on solo piano. Now in its 46th season, Pasadena Pro Musica is dedicated to bringing audiences “less frequently performed” masterpieces, as well as first performances of contemporary American composers. Its 50-singer chorus can usually be heard at the Neighborhood Church.
