Beauty from the Ashes

Apr 30, 2017

Artist’s Statement

I chose the name “Beauty from the Ashes” because it resonated with me as a poignant description of my life and my artistic journey.

Before I rediscovered my creativity, I lived a very small and isolated life. When I began to make art again (after years of repressing it), the thought never crossed my mind that I would end up exhibiting and selling my work. Nor did it ever occur to me that I would end up finding a community of people that I would deeply adore and admire.

Art, literally, transformed and perhaps, even saved my life. Not only has art been an internal catalyst for healing, but, it is also healed my life relationally. Art has made my life beautiful.

I hope you will be able to join me in celebrating the healing power of art.

Curator’s Statement

Eight years ago Kate showed for the first time with Gallery At The End of the World. Since then, the gallery has moved and Kate has explored and expanded into new media. This incredible journey through the greater Los Angeles’s art community has seasoned Kate and her senses. The result? An exceptionally talented, multi-faceted artist who truly creates from the emotional tie art has on the subconscious mind. Her art follows true to her growth. What I consider true to Jean Dubuffet’s description of “Art Brut”—the raw expression of a vision or emotions, untramelled by convention.

This is a must see show!

Please join us for “Beauty From The Ashes.” We look forward to your visit!
