Pasadena Master Chorale will present its Baroque Christmas concert this Saturday with the music of Monteverdi and Handel.

The first part of Handel’s famous “Messiah” will be paired with the “sublime” and not often heard “Magnificat” by Claudio Monteverdi.

Then, welcome 2013 with energy and bombast with Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. PMC is teaming up with the Los Angeles Daiku conducted by Jeffrey Bernstein and the city of Naruto, Japan (where performing the 9th has become a December tradition). Singers will be traveling from Japan to perform at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse.
