This Week at the Levitt: The Decoders

Aug 6, 2012
It’s Levitt time: six weeks of free concerts, Wednesday through Sunday, in good old Memorial Park. As we do every year, we’ll be spotlighting one show a week for the duration. Because, you know, we’re curators. Our pick this week is The Decoders, who play “modern-Jamaican Lovers Rock-inspired” interpretations of soul classics from the Music Sales catalog: Earth, Wind, and Fire, Minnie Riperton, Ruby and the Romantics, etc. The Decoders are Itai Shapira and Todd Simon, a producer duo (who Decode on the side?). Simon is the arranger for Mayer Hawthorne, TV On The Radio, and Quantic, among others, which caught our eye. We have no idea what “modern-Jamaican Lovers Rock-inspired” means, but if the dudes can fiddle with notes for Hawthorne and Quantic, they’re okay in our book. See you on Friday.
