A branch of the Chinatown classic, this place has a huge and devoted clientele, proving that Yang Chow’s famed slippery shrimp is indeed as addictive as cocaine. Twice-cooked and bathed in a subtly sweet, mildly hot sauce, it is impossible to stop eating. Also good are the cashew chicken, fiery Szechwan wonton soup, pan-fried dumplings and dry-sautéed asparagus and green beans. Somehow the cooking here doesn’t seem quite as good as at the original, but we’re probably just sentimental. This location is reasonably attractive and comfortable, and it’s staffed by nice, efficient people.
