It’s amazing how many “things”—jobs, career paths, specialist abilities—that some individuals can list on their resume. Those of us with less to flourish should not bow our heads, but partake of the bounties of others!
Jennie Cook is one such incredibly learned woman. She is chef and owner of Jennie Cook’s Catering and Plant-Based Parties. She’s also a Master Food Preserver, a certified permaculturist, a visual journaler, and on the board of Root Down LA.
Prospect Park Books will be releasing Who Wants Seconds?: Sociable Suppers for Vegans, Omnivores & Everyone in Between this coming October. Having been a lucky enough to enjoy Jennie’s catering on several occasions, we can’t wait for this new cookbook, and applaud Prospect Park, the local publisher that continues to highlight the fabulous bakers and cooks in the Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley.
Here’s a link to a piece on KCRW with Jennie’s recipe for Funny Cake. We’re hoping to snag a moment ourselves with this tour de force for a an interview—and maybe a recipe too! KCRW Good Food, recipe: Funny Cake.
