Chicken, pork, vegan jackfruit, green chile cheese, and sweet corn cheese tamales will have been made, filled, steamed, and ready to consume. Along with a tamale or two, hungry diners may choose from two sides such as kale salad, roasted vegetables, spanish rice, and black or pinto beans. Served with homemade green or red salsa.
Grassroots makes their own masa, which they sell by the pound, and that is made from non-GMO organic corn. It is lard-free, gluten-free, and vegan. See their funny pitch on Instagram.
Tamales cost $4.50 each or $4.25 when you buy one dozen. You may pre-order tamales for the holidays (they will keep in the refrigerator for 7-10 days or in the freezer for up to six months). Orders must be made by 6 p.m. on Friday, December 20th and pick up is Monday and Tuesday, December 23rd and 24th.
So come and have a tamale lunch on Friday and if you deem them divine, place an order. What says Christmas like tamales, right? (Actually, one blog author wrote that he would rather open tamales on Christmas than presents.)
