Restaurant Week Returns

Oct 6, 2009

dinelalogofall468x261After a run last spring that was so wildly successful it stretched from a week into a month, Dine L.A. Restaurant Week returned starting October 4th, this time for two weeks instead of one. Here’s how it works: The participating restaurants offer special three-course, fixed-price menus for lunch and dinner. They choose one of three categories:

Deluxe — $16 for lunch, $26 for dinner
Premier — $22 / $34
Fine —  $28 / $44

When done right, the restaurant uses this as a chance to sell itself, so instead of serving some cheap daily special, it should be showing off and providing a real value for the price. That seemed to generally be the case last spring, although, of course, there were a few laggards. Note that these deals are not offered on Saturdays.

For a complete list of participants, go to the Dine L.A. site. Here are the Pasadena-area places we’re hoping to hit during these two weeks: the new Café 140 (really the old Crocodile Café, but they’ve made some changes), Pop Champagne & Dessert Bar (which we still haven’t tried), Bashan in Glendale, La Grande Orange and Vertical Wine Bistro.

If you’d like to share your experiences, good or bad, during Restaurant Week — or, rather, Restaurant Two Weeks — please comment here. We’d love to hear from you.
