Elements Is Coming

Jan 14, 2010

One of the most anticipated restaurant openings in Pasadena is finally coming to pass: Elements Kitchen, the very fine caterer and café tucked into a tiny space on the south end of Old Pasadena, is taking over the large and beautiful restaurant space adjacent to the Pasadena Playhouse. The site has been the graveyard for many an ambitious eatery, but this time the odds look good — chef Onil Chibas has spent the last few years developing a loyal following for his clean, flavorful modern American cooking, and he brought in savvy and budget-conscious wine expert Chris Meeske (owner of Mission Wines) to create the list.

They’re taking reservations now; it opens for dinner only starting Tuesday, January 19th, and will be open every night for dinner except Monday. There’s a full bar open until midnight, too.

With the Pasadena Playhouse‘s roster getting stronger each season, and what looks to be a solid restaurant and bar opening next door — with Vroman’s and the Laemmle theaters thriving across Colorado — the Playhouse District is looking like the place to be.

We’ll report more after it opens and we try it out.

I like Elements: their catering for our So Pasa ToR year-end party still brings a smile to my tastebuds.

May they both have a Happy New Yrs!

  2. […] other consideration is the life and livelihood of Elements, the restaurant that has just arrived and is adjacent to the Playhouse. In its first location, this […]
