Established in 1949, Billy’s is an institution that runs on homemade pickles, towers of lox and pastrami, and lots of rye bread. A deli case, bakery case and sandwiches to go complement a dining room hung with huge sepia photos of a Glendale with Red Cars (and without high-rises or smog). The bill will be on the expensive side, but the selection is excellent, and everything is high quality. The waitresses are straight out of central casting, and love to pamper their customers. Don’t miss the food wall outside– tiles cast from real deli meats and breads – who knew? Note that Billy’s does great platters for parties or, God forbid, memorials.
