ECHO PARK — A wave of youthful and often noisy energy swept over Echo Park this weekend as throngs of music lovers packed the neighborhood for Echo Park Rising.

With 460 acts playing in outdoor stages, clubs, bars, restaurants and shops, there was a lot to listen to as see during the event.

Photographer Michael Hayes shared some of the images he took during Echo Park Rising.

“I loved the energy and the communal feel this year,” said Hayes of the second time he has attended the festival. “It really felt like a diverse group of attendees, from all backgrounds, lifestyles and age groups. It was wonderful walking the streets of the neighborhood with so much life around every corner. Unlike some venues in L.A., it wasn’t overwhelmingly sceney, there was just a genuine sense of enthusiasm and enjoyment.”
