Update: Suspect in Whittier Boulevard bus stabbing shown in video

East Los Angeles — The L.A. County Sheriff’s Departments has released a surveillance video of the suspect who stabbed a man several times onboard a bus Monday morning as it traveled on Whittier Boulevard.

The video shows a man wearing shorts, a  striped shirt, glasses and a blue cap standing at the back of a Montebello bus. Then, at the end of the video, the man steps forward and raises his arm while holding a knife.

Here’s a rundown of the incident provided by the LASD:

“Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing of a man riding in a Montebello Public Transportation bus, Route 10. The stabbing occurred at 10:13 A.M. on Monday, April 9, 2018, while the bus travelled in the 5700 block of Whittier Boulevard, East Los Angeles.

Detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify the suspect depicted in the video. He is described as a male Hispanic, in his mid-30s to early-40s, standing 6’ tall, weighing 170 to 180 pounds, and wore a blue and orange shirt, and green shorts at the time of the crime. Any additional witnesses or patrons who patronized Route 10 of the Montebello Public Transportation system during the time of the incident are asked to come forward with any information they may have about the suspect or the crime.”

The victim remains in a hospital in critical condition.
