Two pedestrians were killed and several others injured tonight in a multi-vehicle crash near the intersection of Whittier Boulevard and Indiana Street on the border of Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles, according to various media reports.

The L.A. Sheriff’s Department  sayid  that two on-duty deputies were involved in the crash. KTLA says that the deputies were responding to a call of a shooting when their SUV was involved a three-vehicle crash and struck the pedestrians on the street corner. One died at the scene, another died at a hospital, KTLA said.
