Photographer Martha Benedict joined a group of bird lovers last week for a bird watching walk along the L.A. River in Elysian Valley. Those on the Friday morning tour, sponsored by the Audubon Center at Debs Park,  encountered a wide variety of birds as well as kayakers and anglers enjoying the L.A. River Pilot Recreation Zone.

What kinds of birds are these? Except for the pigeon, The Eastsider is trying to get the rest of the birds identified. If you know your Blue Herons from your Western Mockingbirds, please use the comments section to help identify the birds.
