L.A. Fire Department investigators are looking into about a half dozen small vegetation fires that broke out today in and around Debs Park near Montecito Heights as well as Sycamore Park in Highland Park.

L.A. Park Rangers called fire department investigators late this afternoon to talk to a person after a fire was reported near Figueroa and Avenue 49, said LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey. It’s not clear how or if that person was connected to the fires.

Most of the fires scorched small patches of grass and rubbish, with the first reported shortly before noon. Fires were reported near Griffin Avenue, Montecito Heights Avenue and the northbound 110 Freeway near Avenue 60. No injuries or property damage was reported.

The Audubon Center at Debs Park on its Facebook page thanked firefighters for putting out a fire in Debs Park and said that park rangers performed a safety patrol on horseback.
