Police seek public’s help in fatal Highland Park drive-by shooting

Highland Park  —  Police are asking the public for help to find the suspect or suspects involved in a deadly drive-by shooting on Monday afternoon.

Alfred Raymond Montes, 43, was walking in the 300 block of N. Avenue 52 when he was struck by gunfire that came from a passing vehicle, according to a statement provided by the LAPD Northeast Division.

Police and paramedics were called shortly after 5 pm. Montes was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle, a light-colored sedan, was seen driving east on N. Avenue 52, police said.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to call Northeast Division Homicide Detective Martinez or Detective Soria at (323) 561-3321. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (1-877-527-3247).

The homicide was the first in more than a year in Highland Park, according to the L.A. Times Homicide Report.
