EAST LOS ANGELES – Green Dot Public Schools has expanded its presence in East Los Angeles, opening  the Ánimo Ellen Ochoa Charter Middle School.

The school – named after scientists Ellen Ochoa, the first Latina astronaut – is still enrolling for students for its sixth grade class, which numbers 110 students. “It will add one class every year to eventually serve sixth, seventh and eighth grades, according to a school press release.
