News & Notes:

  • A man found an envelope filled with $168 in cash inside a restroom stall at Echo Park Lake on Friday as part of the ongoing @HiddenCash  scavenger hunt, according to L.A. Now. A horde of people looking for the envelope swarmed the park, which did not go over well with some residents. “This madness took a heavy toll on the park, designated ‘habitat areas’  bark torn off trees, nesting areas trounced, people searching in private front gardens over looking the lake, tromping down  succulents a revolting cash mad scorched earth scavenger fest,” said one man who lives by the lake.
  • The City of Glendale is giving the public more time to comment on a proposal to expand the Scholl Canyon Landfill north of Eagle Rock, where residents are concerned about an increase in traffic and pollution as a result of the plan.  The public comment period, which was set to expire May 30,  has been extended 15 days after L.A. Councilman Jose Huizar called for an extension.
