Gold Line rail service between Highland Park and South Pasadena was disrupted early this evening after a man was struck and killed by a train as he stood on the tracks near Monterey Road and Pasadena Avenue in South Pasadena. The train operator sounded his horn but the victim did not move out of the train’s path in time to avoid being hit, a Metro spokesman told the L.A. Times.
Train service between the Highland Park and South Pasadena stations has been halted as officials conduct an investigation into the collision, which took place shortly after 4 p.m. Metro is shuttling Gold Line passengers on buses between both stations, with the agency saying passengers can expect an approximately 20-minute delay.
Vehicle traffic on Figueroa was halted for at least 30 minutes at the Gold Line track crossing, reports Highland Park resident Nathan Solis.
