When The Eastsider posted a story in January about the faded peach apartments that climb a steep hill between Echo Park and downtown, readers said the buildings resembled everything from a Tibetan palace to a Brazilan favela. Now, the same complex, which sold for $2.72 million, has been painted a hard-to-miss combination of colors.

A painter working on the job said about 500 gallons of paint had been ordered for the month-long project. The colors are named Yellow Gold, River Bank, Victorian Mauve and Florida Mango. The wood trim across all the buildings will be painted Burnt Tile.

We will have to see if the rents on these newly renovated apartments will be as bold as the colors.
