EAST LOS ANGELES — Easter morning, like most Sunday mornings, found Aurelio Jose Barrera out early on his bike distributing food to the homeless. In his bike basket today were some of the five bags of tangerines that he and his 12-year-old daughter picked from the tree of Margaret Garcia and Rhett Beavers in Echo Park.

Barrera stopped to give one of the tangerines this morning to a man he frequently sees on Whittier Boulevard.  “The man holding the tangerine is a regular who asked me to take his picture and thank the people who gave me the fruit.”
