Don’t want to walk 18 miles from Echo Park to Santa Monica? Then watch the 14-minute video instead

Nov 26, 2013

It took more than seven hours to complete Michael Schneider’s Great LA Walk  on Saturday, an 18-mile trek from Echo Park Lake to Ocean Park in Santa Monica.  But, thanks to Silver Lake blogger Will Campbell, you can now complete the same walk in 14 minutes thanks to a time-lapse video Campbell created and uploaded to YouTube.

Campbell recorded the walk a GoPro camera strapped to chest that snapped a photo every two seconds for a total of about 12,790 images.   Campbell, in a note on the video, gave the walk high marks:

Michael Schneider’s 8th-annual Great L.A. Walk was by far the best one of the previous five I’ve done. A great and enthusiastic turnout, a beautiful day, marvelous weather, and an awesome route across the city beginning at Echo Park Lake added up to a picture-perfect finish under a beautiful late-afternoon sun beside the statue of Saint Monica in Ocean Park overlooking a gorgeous Pacific Ocean.
