Brush fire burns six acres in El Sereno [updated]

El SERENO – A fire has consumed about about five acres of grass and brush this afternoon as it spreads up a hillside near Ascot Hills Park, reports the L.A. Fire Department.

Fire crews and air units are being deployed to put out the blaze, which was reported shortly before 1 pm in the 2500 block of Soto Street near Mission Road.

Update@ 2:09 pm: The fire has been knocked down after burning about 6 acres, says the L.A. Fire Department. There  are no reports of injuries or structure damage.

Update @ 1:51 pm: CBS2 reports northbound Soto St. has been closed near the fire, which has grown to five acres and has spread into the park.
