One City, One Story

Mar 8, 2013

Karen-Walker-Thompson-008“A haunting and unforgettable story about coming of age during extraordinary times and about people going on with their lives in an era of profound uncertainty.”

This is a description of this year’s One City, One Story selection: The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker, which is her fictional debut.

Walker was born and raised in San Diego and is a graduate of UCLA and the Columbia MFA program. A former editor at Simon & Schuster, she wrote The Age of Miracles in the mornings before work—sometimes while riding the subway. She currently lives in Iowa with her husband. (Vroman’s)

Thursday, March 14th, Walker will join Pasadena Public Library Director Jan Sanders for a conversation about the novel and to discuss the author’s experiences writing it. A question and answer period will immediately follow.

A wine and cheese reception for the author will precede the event.

Watch for further One City, One Story events throughout the month of March.
