Anita Parys on the Stairs

Mar 15, 2016

Anita-Parys_artIn our current technologically pervasive world, it’s seldom that a quick Google search or ten minutes of digging will not unearth information about a desired subject. When we looked for details relating to Anita Parys, a Los Angeles artist whose work is on exhibit at Vroman’s, we came up empty. Fascinating.

As such, we will revert to Vroman’s bio of the artist:

Anita Parys is a Los Angeles based artist. She works predominately with the media of collage, ink and oil. Her human images capture emotional moments in the lives of ordinary people. Ms. Parys also displays a sense of whimsy with a playful use of slivered images and text. She is currently working on a series of numbered mixed media collages entitled “What They See”, which is an expression of the world from an outlier perspective.

She is influenced by art considered edgy including ashcan, urban art, and graffiti. The art that most appeals to her has a raw twist and an intense atmosphere. She is represented in the collections of numerous anonymous collectors in San Marino, Moorpark, and San Gabriel as well as the collections of Dana Taylor, Heather Walt, Marie Senese, Stephen Takeshita and Juanita Smouse. She has studied under Vahan Yervandyan.

An opening reception and a meet-and-greet with the artist will be held on Sunday, March 20th at noon. Vroman’s Bookstore, 693 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena 91101.
